Donating to OLL

Hi everyone!

If you've watched the wizard-tastic video — clicky! — you know that NaNoWriMo and its classroom-based Young Writers Program are organized by a small Berkeley-based nonprofit called the Office of Letters and Light.

Together, the two programs cost nearly $1 million to put on this year. If you got something out of your noveling experience this November, please consider making a small donation to the Office of Letters and Light. You can contribute via credit card and PayPal at http://store.lettersandlight.org, and also find information there on donating by check. Donors get great NaNoWriMo thank-you gifts and dramatically increased noveling karma.

I know it's kind of late, and we used to offer this before earlier in the season, but better late than never, right? If you want to donate to OLL and get a shiny, shiny halo (and donor goodies), here are some ways we Filipinos can help:

1. If you have a credit card, you can easily donate $10 through the OLL Donation Station - https://store.lettersandlight.org/donations . As far as I know, HSBC has the best foreign exchange rates, but if any Visa/Mastercard card will do. And I've done this before -- donating through the store is secure.

2. If you don't have a credit card but you want to donate, I can do the donation for you. If you're going to the write-in on Saturday, you can give your donation in cash and I'll do that night and you'll get your donor halo by the next day. Let's put the USD to PHP conversion to Php 45.00 and that should also cover other charges my credit card will have when I do the donation. That's Php 450 for a donor halo (or if you want a higher donation value, just convert it to that :D).

3. If you don't have a credit card and you don't have any cash, there are still ways to donate when broke. Personally, I really like the Goodsearch option.

Donating is not required for you to participate or win NaNoWriMo, but it's very, very appreciated. :) If you have questions or comments, just post away. If you need help in donating, just send me NaNoMail! :)

I donated! It feels good ^_^

NaNoWrimo is awesome and I don't mind sending them funds there way for the small price of uh..2-3 Tall Starbucks coffee? Or SBC mediums or 3 CBTL concoctions ...well you get the idea.

So yeah...if all of us send in 450 - it would go a long way to keeping this worthwhile activity and their causes up. :)

Oh gosh, I wish I could donate but credit cards are nowhere to be found and I can't go to all write-ins! :( Or, well, of course I prefer to donate by buying a few items from the store... >.>;;

Hi Liv! We can do the old-school bank transfer thing if you still want to donate. :) We're still planning on the merch group order, but we're waiting for the Dec 15 sale (yes they will be on sale!) and we won't get the stuff until next year, so right now, we're only pushing for donations. :)

Can we still donate through you at the TGIO party?

Yes yes you can. :) We'll include that in the TGIO announcements thing when we send it :)
